Improving the Doors in Your Home

When it comes to protecting your home, the doors are the first and last line of defence. If you do not have a good set of doors in your home, you are asking for trouble. I discovered this the hard way when my home was broken into. The doors were old and wooden and not very strong. As soon as I had reported it to the police, I called in a contractor who could recommend some strong quality doors to protect my place. The contractor was great and I learnt an awful lot from him. I hope you enjoy my blog.

6 Reasons You Should Add Roller Shutters to Your Windows

Blog

People install metal roller shutters in their windows, doors and garages for various reasons, key among them being security. They are typically designed using stainless steel, aluminium or galvanised steel metal, which makes them extremely difficult to beak. Here are 6 practical reasons to add roller shutters to your home.

Enhance Security

Roller shutters provide extra security to your home. Because they are fitted very close to the door, it is extremely difficult for intruders to pull them away or remove them. In addition to being a major physical deterrent, they are an excellent visual deterrent. A potential intruder will take one look at them and decide it is not worth even trying to gain entry.

Weather Protection

Another advantage of roller shutters is that they protect your windows and doors against the weather. In case of harsh weather like hailstorms, you just close the shutters and rest assured that the roller shutters will deflect branches and other debris that could break the glass and cause more damage.

Roller shutters do not rattle during high winds. They're sturdy and provide you and your family with protection from any outside elements.

Thermal Insulation

Roller shutters can maintain warm air inside the house during winter and keep out the hot air during summer. Because they have polyurethane injected into them, roller shutters offer your home a thick wall of insulation. When you need to control the temperature levels, you don't have to rely on your HVAC system to keep everything at a comfortable temperature. These insulating features keep your home warm and cool when needed, and this allows you to make significant savings on other costly heating alternatives.

Sound Insulation

In addition to light and heat control, roller shutters provide sound insulation. They are devised in such a way that they control commotion and noise significantly. They keep noise in and out. This means that you can host guests without distracting your neighbours, and outside noise will not hinder your sleep or work.

Light Control

Roller shutters allow you to control the amount of light you want in a room. By lowering the roller shutters all the way, you can blacken the room. You can also choose to flood sunlight into the room by opening them all the way. Either way, you choose to open or close them as per your needs.

Privacy

Roller shutters give you control over your privacy. Privacy provision may not be only about keeping sound in; it's also about outsiders peeping in your home. If your bedroom, kitchen or lounge faces an open public area, you can use roller shutters to give you peace of mind.

Shutters are a great way to give your home an artistic new dimension. Their biggest advantage, however, is securing your home and your property.
